Job Title: PBL Elementary Coordinator

Department/Campus: Curriculum and Instruction

Pay Grade:  Administrative/Professional

 

Primary Purpose:

Provide leadership and coordination to provide an aligned and articulated elementary instructional program in the area assigned.

 

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree preferred from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Project Based Learning strategies
  • Ability to coach and develop teachers in PBL
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to evaluate PBL initiatives and provide timely feedback to teachers and administration
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners

Experience:

Minimum of five years teaching experience

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate the review, development, and revision of all Project Based Learning initiatives, subject area programs, and related curriculum documents, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans.
  • Work cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs.
  • Plans, improves, and oversees testing programs for assigned subject areas.
  • Coordinate the ordering and use of departmental instructional aids and materials for assigned subject areas and PBL initiatives.
  • Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.
  • Maintain a staff library of publications, supplementary materials, and supplies relevant to PBL initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of the budget and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment, and facilities in areas of assignment.
  • Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in the designated PBL initiative area.
  • Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in area assigned.
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation and PBL projects.
  • Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom.
  • Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about school programs.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
