Job Title:  Assistant Director

Primary Purpose:

Provide leadership and coordination to provide an aligned and articulated instructional program for Career & Technical Education.

 

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree preferred from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate. CTE area preferred.

Valid Texas Mid-management certificate required.

  • Knowledge of planning, staff development, and accreditation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in the use of computers and computer software

Experience:

Five years teaching experience in Career & Technical Education preferred. Administrator experience preferred.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate the review, development, and revision of all Career & Technical Education programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans.
  • Collaborate with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the Career & Technical Education programs.
  • Plan, improve, and oversee assessment for Career & Technical Education.
  • Coordinate the ordering and use of Career & Technical Education instructional aids and materials.
  • Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.
  • Engage web-based tools for communication, dissemination of information and productivity.
  • Assist in the preparation of the budget and administration of the Career & Technical Education departmental budget for supplies, equipment, and facilities.
  • Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in Career & Technical Education and general C&I related processes.
  • Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in Career & Technical Education.
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
  • Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about school programs.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Conduct extensive surveys to determine needs at specific levels of education district wide.
  • Coordinate a district wide staff development calendar.
  • Serve as a resource to teachers, principals, district staff, and the community.
  • Research best practice related to specialized areas and work to secure training.
  • Establish a database to track attendance and follow-up on all scheduled training.
  • Assist in the development efforts for district professional development publications, including online catalogs for training opportunities.

  • Secure consultants, speakers and presenters.
  • Disseminate training information through professional development catalog, newsletters, and website.
  • Conduct evaluations related to scheduled training.
  • Develop creative ways to deliver training to all Career & Technical Education staff
  • Determine when out of district training is necessary.
