Primary Purpose:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Current licensure, certification, or registration by a nationally recognized accrediting agency as a health professions practitioner such as: ADRN, BSN, ATC, Dental Hygienist, MT-P, MT, EMT-LP, PTA, RRT, SLP

 

AND

 

OPTION 1

  • Bachelor’s or Associates' degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred) from an accredited institution in a health or medical related field.
  • Valid Texas career and technical education certificate in one of the following:
    • Health Science: Grades 6-12
    • Health Science Technology Education: Grades 8-12
    • Vocational Health Occupations
    • Vocational Health Science Technology

OR

 

OPTION 2

  • Bachelor’s or Associates' degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred) from an accredited institution in a health or medical related field.
  • Two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in your licensed occupational field
  • Seeking CTE certification based on skill and experience from an approved educator preparation program (EPP).

 Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Ability to oversee student field experiences in career area assigned
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of student’s assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district
  • Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Present a positive role model for students; support mission of school
  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committeesas
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).

The employee may spend long hours in intense concentration which requires attention to detail. There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stress. The employee must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues.
