Primary Purpose:
To facilitate the efficient operation of student attendance reporting
Education/Certification:
High School diploma or GED; successfully pass MISD literacy test
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Computer proficiency
- Proficient knowledge MS Word software, and file maintenance
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles skills
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word documents
- Professional telephone demeanor
Minimum Experience:
One to three years of secretarial experience, preferably in public education environment
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist with registering incoming students.
- Report attendance information to the Administration office.
- Verify student attendance zones.
- Assist with entering new students in computer system, transfer students from school to school.
- Maintain original building roll.
- Maintain daily attendance records, enter daily absences, print daily absences, resolve daily absences and enter unexcused absences.
- Encourage students to bring written validation for excused absence within a three-day period.
- Compile weekly, six-week, and semester reports of school attendance and verify the information.
- Print student’s information (i.e., homeroom lists, class rolls, special populations, etc.) for school personnel when requested.
- Assist students, teachers and parents as needed.
- Exercise good telephone etiquette.
- Be responsible for the integrity of data.
- Display punctuality, congeniality, dependability and efficiency.
- Attend training as requested.
- Seek advice and counsel when needed.
- Report to work in a timely manner according to assigned schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
