Primary Purpose:

Provide support for teachers in the implementation of research-based instructional strategies. Work directly with teachers to provide classroom demonstrations in rigorous standards-based teaching. Enhance teachers’ abilities to provide instruction that builds students’ literacy skills and content knowledge, is academically rigorous, addresses the curriculum standards, and enhances students’ engagement and ownership of their learning.

 

Qualifications/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university, Master’s Degree (preferred)

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned

Highly qualified in area of endorsement

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to share proven instructional approaches
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
  • Extensive Knowledge of subject area assigned

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of successful techniques for classroom organization and experience planning for effective instruction
  • Knowledge of technology applications for instruction

Experience

Minimum 3 years in the classroom, preferably 5 years

Experience using assessment results to shape instruction

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide collaborative and one-on-one instructional coaching and facilitate teacher inquiry and related professional development.
  • Work with administrators and teachers to align their work with district priorities.
  • Lead data sessions that look at both formative and summative assessment results and suggest and monitor intervention strategies and materials for struggling students.
  • Be a part of the District network and work with the district departments (i.e C & I, Professional Development, Bilingual, Special Ed.) as necessary
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the assigned subject area strategic improvement plan
  • Ensures that the state and district content standards are the foundation of instruction in all content areas
  • Works with teachers in the development of daily, weekly, and unit lesson plans
  • Works with teachers in assessing problem areas in curriculum and instruction and in finding and implementing appropriate solutions
  • Introduces teachers to new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student achievement
  • Coordinates and conducts staff development on the campus and district levels
  • Models best instructional practices through actual classroom demonstrations
  • Makes informal classroom observations and provides immediate feedback for the purpose of instructional support and program improvement (not evaluation)
  • Uses technology to disaggregate test data to inform and grade curricular and instructional program improvement on a school, class, and individual student level
  • Assists teachers in incorporating the use of technology into the instructional program
  • Assists teachers in developing sound, defensible procedures for assessing student progress and for reporting that progress to students and parents in a timely manner
  • Reviews periodically the implementation of assessment procedures and assures that the state’s Uniform Grading Policy is implemented
  • Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with administrators, teachers, media specialists, guidance counselors and other school staff to strengthen all aspects of the instructional program
  • Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with district-level curriculum consultants and program coordinators to ensure rigorous, relevant curricula and instructional practices that will increase student achievement
  • Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with middle and high feeder schools to strengthen vertical articulation and to create a seamless K-12 instructional program.
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Dependable performance requires reliable and dependable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
  • Teacher will create and implement lesson plans and instruction to intentionally address areas of learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic and students learning remotely.

Equipment used:

Personal or laptop computer, printer, copier, fax machine, shredder, calculator, telephone, electronic mobile devices, projector, and video display monitor and other related office equipment.
